Making Community Engagement Count!
Sorell Council is working to improve how we engage and communicate with community.
Work has begun on updating our Communications and Engagement Strategy.
An important step is to invite you – our community, to help shape its development. That’s why we’d love you to share your ideas on how we can reach you at the right time and in the right way. Complete our quick 5 minute survey and help shape our Communication and Engagement Strategy!
Why this is important
The Sorell Municipality is growing and changing fast – did you know Sorell’s population is set to grow 27% by 2052. This is the highest growth forecast rate in the state!
For us, it’s more important than ever to adapt and explore different ways to keep connected to our community, to meet the needs of our community. Your input is key to exploring how to tailor our communication and engagement to reach the right people – in the right way – at the right time, with the aim of encouraging greater community participation to represent the views and needs of our municipality in our decision making process.
How to participate
Tell us what matters most to you!
We’d love you to complete our quick 5 minute survey to let us know what you value in our community, what you want to hear more of (and when), as well as what you expect from Council now, and into the future.
With your help, we can identify what’s good (and bad!) about our communications and community activities and where we can improve or introduce new initiatives to inform our Communication and Engagement Strategy.

You’re also welcome to come along to one of our ‘pop up’ chats at these locations and let us know your thoughts and ideas:
- Tuesday 27 August – Okines Community House, 9am to 2pm
- Thursday 5 September – Dunalley Bakery, 12noon to 3pm
- Wednesday 11 September – Midway Point Neighbourhood House, 10am to 1pm.
Next steps
After the survey closes on Sunday 15 September 2024, we will analyse and summarise the survey results to include in the Draft Communications and Engagement Strategy, e.g. outcomes might include development of new engagement methods to reach a wider audience, adapting old ones, or removing activities that are no longer relevant.
We will aim to have the Draft Strategy ready for public consultation in early November. Keep up to date on progress on our website, through our social media or by signing up to our monthly e-News.
